Why Should I Get Senior Pictures Taken?

Knoxville Senior Pictures || Why Have Senior Photos Taken?

I remember having my senior pictures done – back when the dinosaurs roamed the Earth – LOL. I spent hours and hours making my hair just perfect and my makeup just right. Then I drove to my high school, where the photographer was set up on the auditorium stage. I waited patiently for my turn. When it was finally my turn, I sat down in the provided-for-me chair and my photographer snapped a picture of my head and shoulders straight ahead, then turn to the right, then turn to the left. And………done! Wait…for THAT I just spent 3 hours making sure my hair and makeup was perfect??? My senior picture experience lasted all of about 45 seconds!

Not so anymore.

Today’s savvy high school seniors are opting for more fashion-based, model-for-a-day type of experiences, where they choose the locations, change outfits several times, and spend sometimes upwards of 3 hours having their photos taken. But why go to all this trouble? Why have senior pictures done anyway?

*This is a defining moment in your life, that goes by way too fast. It probably feels like your 4 years in high school flew right by. Your 4 years of college will as well, and before you know it you will be getting married and starting a whole new life. Your senior year is a meaningful time – for you, for your parents (you will likely be moving out to go to college in just a few short months!) and for the rest of your family. This important time should be remembered in photographs – some day it will be all that is left of your 18-year-old self.

*It’s important to remember who you are at this time of your life. Are you in cheerleading? On volleyball team? A football player? Debate team? Are you an artist? A dancer? These awesome accomplishments should be celebrated and remembered with photographs!

Your Mama will thank you. And so will Grandma. This is where I’m at right now – my youngest child just graduated high school a couple months ago, and has joined The Navy. He will be leaving for Boot Camp in just a few short weeks. I can’t even imagine life without him here and I will cherish every single photograph that I have of him while he is gone for 5 long years. Waaaaahhhhhhh!!!

This is such an important and fleeting time of your life. Things change pretty quickly after your senior year of high school, and it’s important to remember this time.
