What to wear for your High School Senior Pictures

Depending upon which session you have chosen, you will have up to 3 outfit changes during our photo session together. It’s important to choose your outfits with care, however please feel free to bring A LOT of different options! The first thing we will do when we meet up is choose your outfits together, based on the type of session you desire. I try very hard to match your outfits to your environment, so don’t be shy in bringing lots of clothes. I’ve even had girls roll a suitcase full of stuff to our session!!

Clothing

Make sure outfits are grouped together on hangers, so you can easily pair this shirt with that skirt while we are shooting.

Please be sure all outfits are neat, clean, ironed and ready to look their best.

Bring a variety of styles – from dressy to casual.

Remember to dress all the way down to your shoes. In other words, bring the whole outfit including socks, undergarments, shoes, jewelry – all of it.

On the subject of shoes – bring and plan to wear heels. They elongate your legs and make you look very glamorous. Leave the flip-flops at home. Sure, they’re comfortable, but they don’t photograph well at all. Trust me, you’ll thank me later for this tip!

Please make sure that your undergarments work with your clothing. It seems to be not a problem to have bra straps showing these days, however they do not photograph well that way and Grandma won’t want that picture of you with them showing!

If you are uncomfortable with your arms, avoid tank tops or sleeveless tops as they make arms look fuller.

Avoid horizontal stripes. It doesn’t matter how slim you are, they make you look wider.

Hair and Makeup

Please feel free to bring a friend or your Mom along to help you with your hair during our session. Make sure to keep your style simple and looking like YOU. Please bring a hairbrush and mirror along for quick touch-ups, as well as some hairspray. Bring along any clips, pins, barrettes or whatever else you may want to use in your hair. If you plan on changing your style during our session, keep it quick and simple so we have more camera time.

Your makeup, like your hair, should be simple and not overdone. Even if you never wear makeup, please plan on bringing and wearing a little on the day of our session, as it will help even out skin tones, hide blemishes, and make you look your best. Wear a little translucent powder as it is great at controlling shine, which can be a real problem here in the humid south. Keep mascara neat and not clumpy. We will touch up your photos for any blemishes you may have, but wearing neatly done makeup will help our job be that much easier, and help you look your best.

Fingers and Toes should be considered part of your beauty routine before our session as well. Please make sure your nails are freshly manicured, you like your polish color and there are no chips. Avoid super bright colors that will detract from you and make sure to use a nice neutral color that will match all of your outfits.

Jewelry

Jewelry can really complement your outfit well, if worn correctly. Keep it simple – nothing too large or shiny as that will detract from YOU. Please bring plenty of options to choose from. You might even want to put your jewelry in a plastic baggie and hang it on the hanger with each outfit that you plan.

Tanning

I know it’s difficult NOT to get a tan during the summer here, however try to keep your tan to a minimum before our session. Really tan skin has a tendency to look orange in photographs, and nobody wants orange pictures!

Props

Bring along any props that define YOU. These may include:
*Band or other musical instruments
*Cheerleading outfit and pom poms
*Sports Uniforms
*Sports equipment
*Any other items that tell us who you are such as art items, club items, or anything else

Friends and Family

Please feel free to bring along your best friend, your Mom, or whoever else you would feel most comfortable with to have there during your session. I don’t mind at all, and in fact encourage you to bring someone along that can help catch flyaway hairs or smudged makeup.

Last of all, BRING YOUR SMILE! We will have a lot of fun during our session! There will be lots of laughs! I look forward to working with you!!
